Changes to Social Welfare payments

Budget 2024 was announced on Tuesday 10 October 2023. The Minister for Finance and the Minister for Public Expenditure NDP announced a number of changes to Social Welfare payments. These changes will come into effect from January 2024.

Here is a summary of the changes:

• The weekly rate of Jobseeker's Allowance will increase by €20 to €250.
• The weekly rate of the State Pension (Contributory) will increase by €12 to €265.
• The weekly rate of the State Pension (Non-Contributory) will increase by €10 to €230.
• The weekly rate of Invalidity Pension will increase by €12 to €265.
• The weekly rate of Carer's Allowance will increase by €5 to €235.
