Warwickshires Underwhelming Season Puts Mark Robinsons Position Under Threat

Warwickshire's underwhelming season puts Mark Robinson's position under threat

Warwickshire's poor run of form has put Mark Robinson's position as head coach under threat.

The Bears have won just one of their last seven LV= Insurance County Championship matches and are currently second from bottom in Division One.

Robinson, who was appointed in 2019, has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, with some fans calling for him to be sacked.

Warwickshire's poor form has been blamed on a number of factors, including a lack of consistency in selection and a failure to convert good positions into wins.

The Bears have also been hit by injuries to key players, including captain Will Rhodes and all-rounder Chris Woakes.

Robinson has admitted that Warwickshire's form has not been good enough, but he has also insisted that he is the right man to turn things around.

However, the club's hierarchy are understood to be losing patience with Robinson and are considering their options.

If Robinson is sacked, it would be a major blow to Warwickshire, who have been one of the most successful counties in English cricket in recent years.

The Bears have won the County Championship four times in the last 10 years, but they have not won any silverware since 2017.

Possible replacements for Robinson include former England coach Trevor Bayliss and ex-Warwickshire captain Ian Bell.

Bayliss has a wealth of experience in county cricket, having coached Gloucestershire, Sri Lanka and England.

Bell is a popular figure at Warwickshire, having played for the county for 14 years.

However, he has no coaching experience at first-class level.

Warwickshire's next match is against Lancashire at Edgbaston on August 29.

The Bears will need to win that match to have any chance of avoiding relegation.
