Tornado Destroys Scissortail Silos in Cole

Extensive Damage Reported After Wednesday Night Storm

Cole, Oklahoma

A powerful tornado tore through the town of Cole, Oklahoma, on Wednesday night, leaving widespread destruction in its wake. One of the most heavily damaged structures was Scissortail Silos, a popular event venue and tourist attraction. The tornado caused the walls of the silos to collapse and the ceilings to cave inward, rendering the building unusable.

Emergency crews responded to the scene early Thursday morning to assess the damage and search for any victims. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths have been reported. However, the damage to Scissortail Silos and other buildings in Cole is estimated to be in the millions of dollars.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that the tornado was an EF-2 twister with winds of up to 120 miles per hour. It touched down near the town of Shawnee and traveled northeast for several miles before dissipating. Along its path, the tornado caused significant damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure.

Residents of Cole are now cleaning up the damage and trying to rebuild their community. The town's mayor has declared a state of emergency and has asked for assistance from state and federal agencies. The American Red Cross has also deployed volunteers to the area to provide food, shelter, and other essential services to those affected by the tornado.
